Adelaide to Alice 14/07/2017

Dear Porky,
arrived in Alice Springs mid morning, after we went off road at the SA/NT border to make night camp. It was great, we had smuggled our home grown tomatoes across a few borders which made a yummy salad accompanied by Adelaide sausages. He was the chef, she can't even cut ANYTHING. The night was crisp and turned into a cloudless 20 degree day. This time the trip along the Stuart Highway was highly entertaining for 2 different reasons.
Firstly he downloaded an audiobook called Big little lies, highly recommended for young mothers whose children enter Kindergarden or grandparents who like wicked observations about school communities.
Secondly, due to her injury she needed to rest her elbow on the armrest holding her white bandaged underarm in an upright position. The uneven road surface made her arm sway a little from left to right. This resulted in constant waving of drivers coming toward us. We burst into laughter for 100s of kilometres and she felt a little like a Japanese good luck cat, you know those golden waving cats? He was happy not to greet all the passing cars. Fun, fun, fun on this otherwise boring highway.
xx Petunia
PS. I forgot to mention, that we pulled over at a roadhouse for a cup of coffee at about 7:00 am and parked next to a ute. Upon return he discovered a Tassie number plate on this car, he knocked on the window of the driver's side and said ' hi, we are from the same state, g'day, the male occupant answered with
oh, hello Walter!!!!!!!!!!!
It turned out to be a couple they met about 35 years ago at RHH during maternity classes both of them expecting their first child. They will be in touch when they return, she used to run Lean to kitchen with mustards etc. Amazing, isn't it?
