We crossed the border today into NT. and drove on the BarklyHighway toward the Barkly Homestead. The caravan park, service station and shop is a green oasis for the weary traveller, however we turned of to the North onto the Tableland Highway.
For about 150km we witnessed the most barren land we have ever seen and I spare you the images of dead cattle in various stages of decay, we assume hundreds of them strewn across and toward the horizon. We are unsure whether this is due to the floods they may have had in previous months or the cause was simply starvation. We crossed a couple of old stock routes as well and think they might still be used.
